There is bad news for those who drink alcohol in Maharashtra. Consuming alcohol in the state is now going to be expensive, as the state cabinet on Tuesday has approved the changes that increase revenue in the Excise Department. It also includes an increase in fees on alcohol. That is, excise duty on alcohol is going to increase. According to the news of the MID DAY, according to the decision of the Maharashtra cabinet, excise duty on foreign liquor (IMFL) in India will be increased from three times the manufacturing cost to Rs 4.5 times (from Rs 260 per bulk liter), while the fee on indigen liquor will increase from Rs 180 to Rs 205 per proof liter.

Revised minimum retail price

According to the news, the revised minimum retail price for 180 mL bottles is Rs 80, MML Rs 148, IMFL Rs 205 and premium foreign liquor Rs 360. The FL-2 and FL-3 licenses (for sale of sealed bottles and on-dimases respectively respectively) can now be operated through agreements, subject to 15 percent and 10 percent additional annual license fee, respectively.

A new category of Maharashtra made liquor begins

On behalf of the Chief Minister’s Office of Maharashtra (CMO), it has been said that a high -level study group investigated the policies of the rest of the states and submitted recommendations on improvement in state excise, licensing and tax collection. The state has also launched a new category of grain -based Maharashtra -made liquor (MML) specially produced by local manufacturers. MML brands will require new registration.

These offices will be installed in these cities

The CMO said that the cabinet has approved the establishment of an integrated control cell with reorganization of the department, distillery, bottling plant and AI-based monitoring of the wholesa license and setting up a new mandal office in Mumbai as well as six additional superintendents in Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Ahilyanagar districts. These decisions of the government are expected to have additional income of Rs 14,000 crore annually as excise duty and related taxes.

Decision to increase stipend too

The cabinet approved the increase in stipend for graduates and postgraduate students in government physiotherapy and professional medical programs. The stipend for graduate trainees will increase from Rs 1,750 to Rs 8,000 per month. Similarly, postgraduate students will get Rs 33,730 per month. Nursing students who have six months internship in government colleges in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nanded will get Rs 8,000 monthly.
