Jammu and Kashmir gets its first Chief Minister of the Union Territory, Omar Abdullah takes oath as CM.

Srinagar. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar. Abdullah became the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. After the removal of Article 370, the then state was divided into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

This will be Abdullah’s second term as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. In his first term, he was the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir between January 5, 2009 and January 8, 2015. Omar Abdullah was sworn in by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre. It is being said that the Lieutenant Governor will administer the oath of office to only 4 elected MLAs.
