Jammu and Kashmir Kshatriya Saini Sabha opposed the proposal on Article 370 in the Assembly.
Jammu. hPritam Singh, President of Jammu and Kashmir Kshatriya Saini Sabha and National Vice President of the Honorable Society Organization (New Delhi), on Thursday opposed the resolution passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for reconsideration of Article 370.
Singh, in a statement issued here, expressed the community’s dissatisfaction over the passing of the resolution on Article 370 in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. The central government had repealed it on August 5, 2019. He emphasized the achievements of the 2019 abrogation of Article 370.
He said the abrogation of Article 370 was an important step in integrating Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country bringing long-awaited rights and benefits to the deprived communities of the region. Singh stressed that the move helps correct historical injustice, especially towards marginalized sections, including people from the OBC category.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not support the re-imposition of Article 370 as it deprived them of fundamental rights and economic progress for more than six decades. Singh stressed that the abrogation of Article 370 has had a deep positive impact on the region, leading to a significant reduction in militancy and ensuring equal rights for various marginalized communities.
He said communities like refugees, Gorkhas and sanitation workers who were previously marginalized now enjoy the same rights as other Indian citizens. This change has brought dignity and equality in the lives of thousands of people who were denied their rightful place in the society.
He said that since the abrogation of the Article, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a transformation with an increase in tourism, the return of Bollywood to its sights and the apparent absence of civil unrest from strikes. He said that development is taking place in Kashmir and the law and order situation is under control. This progress is proof of the benefits of the abrogation of Article 370.
He accused the National Conference (NC) of trying to mislead the public with false narratives. He urged the party to stop manipulating sentiments for political gains and emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have embraced the new era of peace and development.
He said the Supreme Court has already deliberated on the matter and the verdict is firm. He stressed that legal avenues have already upheld the repeal.
Singh cautioned the NC against exploiting sensitive issues for political gains, saying such a strategy is not in line with the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are now looking forward to a future free from terrorism and the prosperity of the rest of India and Are associated with progress.
