Janmashtami fast story: According to the legend, the city of Mathura was ruled by a tyrannical king named Kansa in Dwapar Yuga. Kansa’s sister Devaki was married to Vasudev. When Devaki was getting married, there was an AIR that Devaki’s eighth child would kill Kansa. Hearing this, Kansa put Devaki and Vasudev in prison and killed seven children.
When the eighth child was about to be born, it was raining heavy rains. At midnight, all the doors of the prison opened automatically, the watchmen slept in deep sleep and Vasudev’s arms and legs opened. At the same time Lord Vishnu was born as Bal Krishna. Vasudev kept the newborn in a basket and crossed the Yamuna river and brought Nand Baba and Yashoda to Gokul and brought back his newborn girl.
When Kansa came to know about this, she woke up to kill the girl, but the girl flew into the air and said, ‘Hey Kansa, your slaughter is born in Gokul’. The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated in memory of this incident. Also Read: Krishna: Anant Advocate
