Japan keeping an eye on the developments in Taiwan, Prime Minister Ishiba said - ready to respond

Tokyo, October 15 (Hindustan Reporter) Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has said that he is keeping an eye on the situation around Taiwan. He is ready to respond to any kind of feedback. His comments come at a time when China has conducted large-scale military exercises around the island.

“Peace and security in and around the Taiwan Strait is an issue of utmost importance to the region,” Ishiba told reporters on Monday, Japan Today reported. Japan will monitor the situation carefully. We will be ready to respond to any development.

Before the press conference, Ishiba met his defense and foreign ministers. “We will watch China’s military exercises with great interest,” Defense Minister General Nakatani told reporters after the meeting at the headquarters of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.

Nakatani said this is an issue of Japan’s self-defense. It is noteworthy that the Chinese Army has conducted this military exercise as a warning to those demanding Taiwan’s independence. China wants Japan to stop interfering in the Taiwan issue.
