Jeep India recently revealed an updated lineup of the Meridian in the country with the Overland Edition. The American SUV manufacturer is now targeting the electric vehicle segment. The company aims to achieve more than 90 percent localization for the Compass SUV within the next three years. Currently, Jeep operates a manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon, Pune in a 50:50 joint venture with Tata Motors.

Jeep India has revealed that as part of Jeep’s long term strategy, the company will place greater emphasis on exports. Currently, Jeep Compass and Meridian models are exported from India to several developed markets including Australia, Japan and New Zealand. Jeep India also sells the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs in the country.
Jeep will bring new mid size SUV
Jeep India is reportedly preparing to enter the competitive mid-size SUV segment to take on the Hyundai Creta. It generates 110bhp power with 1.2L turbo petrol engine. It is equipped with a manual gearbox and front-wheel-drive system.
Mild hybrid technology can also be provided in this SUV which will have a 54kWh battery pack. This setup can generate power of 156bhp and torque of 260Nm. This electric model gets a range of about 400 km on a single charge.

How will Jeep Avenger be?
This SUV is built on modular CMP platform. It also gets more impressive ground clearance, as well as good breakover and approach angles. It will also get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, AC vents, a digital driver display, adaptive cruise control and many more features.
