Dilip Joshi had told that he had a chance to choose a role from Jethalal and Champakalal. He told that I will not seem Champalal and Jethalal will not look, because actually Jethalal with Caricature was quite lean and a Charli mustache. Still I said that I can try to play Jethalal.
About his struggle days, Dilip Joshi had told that even after working in films and TV serials for many years, there was a time in his life when he did not have work. Before getting Jethalal’s character, he had no work one to one and a half years. The serial in which he was working was closed and the play was also over.
Dilip Joshi said, I did not have any work for one and a half years. That period was very strong for me. I could not understand which new line was held at this age, but this serial was found by the grace of Bhagwal.
