Jodhpur: Ointment made from snake venom will heal wounds quickly, research conducted for 4 years in Jodhpur IIT
Jodhpur News Desk, Due to a research by scientists of IIT Jodhpur, now wounds will be able to heal quickly after injury. Scientists here have made a peptide (ointment) from snake venom. IIT has also taken its patent. Research on this was going on for 4 years. Its testing has yielded successful results.
Dr. Surjit Ghosh, Professor, Department of Smart Healthcare, Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering, IIT Jodhpur, said, “The peptide we have prepared helps in treating Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria like E-coli, Aeruginosa, Pneumonia and MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Negative bacteria can be destroyed.
Peptide extracted from snake venom
Pro. Ghosh said- There are many types of elements in snake venom. To create the new peptide, we removed the major toxic part of the venom, but added a helical short peptide to deliver the part of the venom that was useful to us. After this different types of tests were done. This also includes animal test and wound test.
