HCL-FoxConn Semiconductor Joint Venture: The government on Wednesday approved the HCL-Phuxcon semiconductor joint venture. This joint venture will set up a wafers factory with an estimated investment of Rs 3,706 crore in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Karkarkhana will prepare 20,000 wafers per month (thin layer of semiconductor material silicon). This will create about 2,000 jobs.
Giving information about the decision taken in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the proposed HCL-Phuxcon semiconductor plant will create a display driver chip for mobile phones, laptops, vehicles and other equipment.

The official statement said that the proposed taxkhana will prepare 20,000 wafers per month (thin layer of semiconductor material silicon). This will create about 2,000 jobs. 3,700 is estimated to be invested in this new semiconductor factory. (Language)
