4 lawyers have been appointed as judges in Telangana High Court.

Hyderabad: 4 new additional judges have been sworn in in Telangana High Court on Thursday. These include Gaus Meera Mohiuddin, Chalpati Rao Sudasa, Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy and Gadi Praveen Kumar. High Court Chief Justice Apresh Kumar Singh administered the oath of office to the four new judges at a function. On July 28, the President appointed these 4 lawyers as additional judges of the Telangana High Court. Additional judges are appointed for 2 years, after which they can be made a permanent judge.

Rules to become a judge of High Court in India in India

Some clear rules have been set in the Constitution and Law to become a judge of the High Court in India. According to Article 217 of the Indian Constitution, the following qualifications are necessary to become a judge of the High Court:

  1. Citizenship: A person should be a citizen of India.
  2. Experience: The candidate should have practiced practice in a High Court as a lawyer for at least 10 years. This experience may be mixed in one or more high courts.
  3. Age: The maximum age limit of the High Court judge is 62 years. However, there is no minimum age limit fixed at the time of appointment, but only senior lawyers are elected only on the basis of experience.
  4. Character and Qualification: The character and legal knowledge of the candidate should be of high level. Their honesty and fairness are investigated.

What is the process of appointment?

High court judges are appointed under the collegium system. In this, a committee of Chief Justice and senior judges of the High Court suggests the names of the candidates. These names are sent to the Supreme Court collegium (which includes the Chief Justice of India and other senior judges). After the recommendation of the collegium, appointment is made with the approval of the Central Government and the President. Additional judges are appointed for the first 2 years, so that their work can be assessed. After this he can be made a permanent judge. (PTI)
