mobile reels dekhne ke nuksan: In today’s digital lifestyle, the smartphone has become a part of our every moment. As soon as you wake up in the morning, it has become a common habit to check the phone first and see social media for the last time before sleeping at night. Especially short form content like Instagram Reels, YouTube shorts and Facebook videos has drawn people fast. Just 15–30 seconds, while scrolling these videos, hours pass and we do not even know. But this habit is proving to be dangerous for our eyes. According to experts, if a person watches only 1 hour continuously reels or short videos, his eyes may have problems such as fatigue, irritation and blurring.

Social media effect on eyes health

Blue lights coming out of the screen of the smartphone are most harmful for the eyes. When we see the reels, our eyes continue to focus on the screen. Small videos keep changing again and again, which does not give the eyes relaxed. Gradually the moisture of the eyes starts decreasing and dryness is felt. This is the reason that the eyes start to look heavy only after scrolling continuously for just one hour.

These problems can occur by watching reels for hours: Due to persistent reels and short videos, there are many kinds of negative effects on the eyes, such as:

  • Eye irritation and fatigue

  • Blurry vision

  • Headache and migraine problem

  • Dry Eyes Syndrome

  • Sleep in Sleep Disturbance

  • Weak Vision in the long run (Weak Vision)

Why is the problem increasing?

Reels and short videos are designed in such a way that they immediately release the brain dopamin, making us a desire to watch the next video again and again. This is the reason why we pick up the phone by thinking “just 5 minutes” and when we leave for an hour, we do not know. During this time, the eyes have to stay on the screen without blinking an eye. Result – Eyes get tired and the body also starts feeling stress.

How to avoid eye fatigue?

If you want social media to become a means of entertainment for you but do not harm the health of the eyes, then you should adopt some easy measures:

  • Adopt 20-20-20 rules, after every 20 minutes, for 20 seconds, look at something 20 feet away.

  • Limit screen time, try not to watch the phone screen for more than 30-40 minutes continuously.

  • Use blue light filter, definitely turn on “blue light filter” or “night mode” in phone settings.

  • Set the eyes repeatedly, it keeps the eyes moist.

  • Exercise eyes, massage the eyes with light hands and wash it with cold water.

  • Keep distance from social media before sleeping, watching reels at night can spoil sleep.

When to contact a doctor?

If there is frequent irritation in your eyes, it starts to look blurred, a headache, or the screen feels tired immediately, it can be a sign of digital eye strain. In such a situation, you should immediately consult Eye Specialist.
