BCCI gives pension to players since 2004
The rules of cricketer pension were implemented by the board in 2004. The board then decided to give a monthly pension of Rs 5000 to about 174 former players. But now this amount has increased more than ever. Players playing a match for the Indian team can also get pension. But for this, he needs to play at least 25 first class matches in domestic cricket.
If that player does not play 25 first class matches and plays a match for India, then he will not get a cricketer pension from BCCI. Not only this, BCCI used to give 50 thousand rupees to all Test cricketers who retired before 31 December 1993 and playing more than 25 Test matches. But it has now been increased to more than 70 thousand.
What is the criteria of pension given by BCCI?
Let us take a look at the Cricketer Pension norms of BCCI and know how much pension is given to the former players. Women cricketers are also eligible for pension. The BCCI now gives 52,500 rupees to these cricketers as a pension of Rs 52,500.
While the cricketers playing 5 to 9 Tests get Rs 15,000. There was no discrimination between the players playing a Test match and 50 Test matches in this policy.
Cricketers get so much pension after playing so many matches
Male cricketers have to play at least 25 first class matches to get pension. If a cricketer plays 25 to 49 first class matches. So he gets a pension of 20000 to 30000 rupees.
Whereas 50 to 74 matches get 45 thousand rupees. Apart from this, former cricketers who play 75 or more matches get Rs 52,500. But now this amount has been increased to Rs 70,000.
