New Delhi: A report of the Supreme Court committee has come in the case of getting cash in the house of former Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma. This report states that there is enough facts against Justice Verma that corruption has taken place. They should start the proceedings to remove them from the post.

In fact, the whole matter came to light after a sudden fire in the government residence of former Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma. In March 2025, the Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Police team arrived at the notice of his house fire. Delhi Fire Service and police officers saw a huge amount of cash there, many of which were half burnt. Later a video here also went viral on social media in which burnt notes were seen. After the matter came to light, the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sanjeev Khanna had asked to form an inquiry report by forming a committee of three judges. Based on the report of this committee, the process of removing Justice Verma from his post can now be started.

  5. According to the investigation report, on the basis of strong estimate evidence, it is established that the burnt cash was withdrawn from the store room from 30 Tughlaq Crescent, New Delhi in the early hours of March 15.

  7. In front of the committee, 10 witnesses have admitted to seeing the burnt or half burnt notes.
  8. For example, a witness before the committee said that as soon as I went in, I saw that there was a large pile of only 500 rupee notes on the floor, on the right and front. I am not sure whether any such notes of 500 rupees were there or not. I was surprised and such a large amount of cash was scattered on the floor, which I saw for the first time in my life.

  10. Karki had directed the fireman who allegedly extinguished the fire that he should not mention the burning of notes in his report and cleaning the room the next day, which he denied. But the statements and electronic evidence of other witnesses proved to be contrast.

Explain that the then CJI had constituted the committee under the membership of Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court GS Sandhawalia and Karnataka High Court Judge Anu Shivraman’s membership committee on 22 March.
