But now the film has been released and has been able to open only 17 crores on the first day, which is much less than expected. In this film of director Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan’s acting has also been highly praised. Even after this, the box office figures of the film could not make the makers happy.

According to Sexnilk data, ‘Thug Life’ opened 17 crore rupees on the first day. Chennai had the highest 29 per cent occupancy and 711 shows were run. After this, the city of South, Trichy, stood second with 28 percent occupancy. After this, Pondicherry was 22 percent in Occupancy and 22 percent in Vollor. At the same time, the city of North saw a mere 3 percent occupancy. At the same time, there was an 8 percent occupancy in Mumbai and 58 shows went on. Jaipur has seen 11 percent of Occupancy.

Film surrounded in controversy

Kamal Haasan, the hero of the thug life, kept making headlines for his statements. The film was not allowed to be released in Karnataka. Not only this, there was a lot of opposition to this film in Karnataka and there were reports of burning of Kamal Haasan’s effigy. The reason behind this was his statement that he gave on the occasion of the audio launch of the film. At the audio launch event of thugs life in Chennai here, Kamal Haasan said that Kannada language was born from Tamil. After this statement, Kamal Haasan had to face a lot of opposition. Some Kannada language institutions protested against this and the matter reached the High Court. The High Court also asked Kamal Haasan to apologize which the actor refused. The film was then not released in Karnataka.
