Kamal Haasan’s new film ‘Thug Life’, directed by Mani Ratnam, is facing strong opposition in Karnataka as South Superstar made a controversial remarks during an event in Chennai claiming that Kannada had left Tamil. After this, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) had asked the actor to apologize for his controversial statement on Kannada language by 30 May. However, Kamal did not apologize and now banned the release of his film ‘Thug Life’ in Karnataka. The actor has filed this petition through the CEO of his company Rajkamal Film International.

According to ANI, Kamal Haasan has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court after the release of ‘Thug Life’. The veteran actor has appealed to the court not to stop the screening of the film to the government, police department and film Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has also filed a petition for proper safety for the screening of the film. Kamal Haasan raised this controversy during a promotional event of ‘Thug Life’ last month. His controversial statement led to a dispute in Karnataka. Politicians and film associations strongly criticized the actor. Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra asked Haasan to apologize. The BJP leader wrote on X, ‘Should love his mother tongue, but showing ego in his name is a sign of cultural bankruptcy. Especially it is important for artists to have a sense of respecting every language.

The actor later clarified his remarks amid controversy and told PTI, ‘Politicians are not eligible to talk about language. I think what I said with love and with many historians who taught me language, history and they understood my meaning. Do not talk about politicians language. They do not have enough education to talk about this.
