Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thug Life’ to release on 5 June 2025
Kamal Haasan’s next magnum opus Thug Life now has a release date. On Thursday, 7 November, on the occasion of the actor’s birthday, the makers released a poster, and teaser, and also announced the release date.
The movie is set to hit the big screens mid-next year on 5 June 2025. The makers also unveiled a brief, 44-second teaser, offering a glimpse into the epic world created by director Mani Ratnam.
In the 44-second teaser, the audiences were treated to three different looks of Kamal Haasan, and also Silambarasan. It also showcased that the film is going to be visually rich, with many drone shots and action sequences.
Announcing the release date on X, the makers wrote: “His STORY, His RULES.”

Thug Life marks the first collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam in over two decades, following the iconic success of Nayakan (1987).
An action drama co-written by Kamal Haasan, it is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies.
Action choreography is by Anbariv masters, known for their work on Kamal Haasan’s Vikram (2022). Sharmishta Roy is the production designer and Ekha Lakhani is the costume designer.
It is expected to span three distinct periods. Kamal Haasan portrays multiple characters in it.
The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Silambarasan, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Ashok Selvan, Pankaj Tripathi, Nassar, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami Gopikumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jisshu Sengupta, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and Vaiyapuri.
With music composed by AR Rahman and cinematography handled by Ravi K Chandran, the flick promises to be a cinematic spectacle.
It was formally announced on Kamal Haasan’s birthday in 2023 and has since piqued the curiosity of fans and industry insiders alike.
