Kangana has played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Emergency. This film was earlier scheduled to release on 6 September.
Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency has got the green signal from the Censor Board. According to media reports, one minute has been cut in the film.
The film is now ready for release. Soon the release date will be made official by Kangana Ranaut.
Sikh organizations had raised objections regarding the film, due to which CBFC had withheld the certificate. Kangana had also expressed anger on this matter.
CBFC had raised objections on many scenes of this film. CBFC had given instructions to delete 3 scenes from this film. Strict instructions were also given that 10 changes should be made in the film before releasing it.
Kangana has directed and produced the film Emergency. In the film she played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
It can be seen in the film’s certification that its previous run-time of 147 minutes has been reduced to 146 minutes. It appears that 1 minute has been cut in the film.

Censor Board had sent a list of 10 changes to the producer and director.
- The Censor Board had asked to show facts on the controversial statements shown during the Emergency. CBFC had said that the makers will have to present the sources of the derogatory remarks made by former US President Richard Milhous Nixon towards Indian women and the statements of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill that Indians breed like rabbits.
- The Censor Board had sent a list of 10 changes to Manikarnika Films Private Limited. Most of these scenes were those on which objections were raised by Sikh organizations.
- In a scene of the film, Pakistani soldiers are shown attacking Bangladeshi refugees. In this he is shown attacking children and women. CBFC had also expressed its objection to this scene. The board had asked the makers to change this scene from the film or delete it completely.
Kangana had said in Bhaskar interview – Rape and murder took place in the farmers movement. BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut had said in an interview to Dainik Bhaskar – Miscreants were spreading violence in the name of farmers’ movement in Punjab. People of Sikh community allege that their image was shown wrongly in the film. The film Emergency was surrounded by controversies even before its release. People of the Sikh community alleged that the image of the people of their community has been shown in a wrong way in the film. MP’s Jabalpur Sikh Sangat had taken out a rally till the Collectorate in Jabalpur. Here a memorandum was submitted to the Collector in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding a complete ban on the film.
BJP had expressed disagreement with Kangana’s statement. Kangana had said in an interview to Bhaskar that if the government had not been strong, Punjab would have become Bangladesh. When this statement was opposed, BJP said that this is Kangana’s own opinion and not that of the party.
BJP issued a press release on August 26 saying – the party disagrees with Kangana’s statement. Kangana is not allowed to speak on party policy issues. The party had also instructed him not to make such statements in future.
