New Delhi: Two teachers from a prominent coaching institute in Kanpur were arrested on charges of allegedly raping, blackmailing, and holding a minor student captive for six months. The student, who had moved from Fatehpur to Kanpur in 2022 to prepare for the NEET medical entrance exam, reported that she was assaulted by her teachers over a prolonged period.
According to reports, the abuse began in December 2022, when biology teacher Sahil Siddiqui invited the 17-year-old student to a New Year’s party at his residence, claiming other students would attend. However, upon arrival, she found only Siddiqui there. At the flat, he allegedly drugged her by lacing her soft drink with sedatives, assaulted her, and recorded the act. The survivor was then held captive in the flat for over six months, during which he repeatedly assaulted her and threatened to release the video if she reported the abuse. Some months later, her chemistry teacher, Porwal, also assaulted her at the flat.

The two men are being questioned, and we are prioritising her privacy due to the nature of the case,” a NDTV report quoted ACP Pandey as saying.
