The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday reprimanded actor-director and leader Kamal Haasan for commenting on the Kannada language. The court said, ‘On what basis have you given this statement? Are you a historian or a linguist? Whether you are Kamal Haasan or someone else, you do not have the right to hurt anyone’s feelings. ‘ At the same time, now the next hearing of this case will be held on June 10.

The statement was incorrectly introduced- Haasan

Actually, Kamal said in the promotional event of his Tamil film ‘Thug Life’ in Chennai on 24 May that Kannada language is born from Tamil. This statement is being criticized in Karnataka. Many Kannada organizations are demanding apology from the actor. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has also banned the release of ‘Thug Life’. KFCC has said that the film will not be released in Karnataka unless Haasan apologizes.

Kamal Haasan wrote a letter to KFCC, saying, “I am very sad that his statement on the audio launch of the thug life, which was his true love for Dr. Rajkumar and his family, especially Shiva Rajkumar.” He was introduced incorrectly. My purpose was not to hurt anyone’s feeling.

Actor’s production company filed petition

Haasan’s film production company Rajkamal Films International filed a petition in the High Court on June 2 demanding security for the release of the film. On this, Justice M. Nagprasanna said, ‘This country has been divided on the basis of language. Water, land and language have great importance for citizens. Unrest has spread due to your statement. The people of Karnataka expected only one apology from you, but you came here to ask for security. The court also said that the matter could have been resolved with a simple apology.

The judge said- no language arises from any other language
Justice M Nagprasanna also gave the example of Shri Rajagopal Acharya, who gave a similar statement 75 years ago. Justice said, ‘A similar statement was given 75 years ago and then Mr. Rajagopal apologized. Why can’t you (Kamal Haasan) ask? Now you are seeking security for the release of your film. I would have apologized, he would have been enough.

The court said, ‘No language is born from any other language. One forgiveness could have done everything well. Language is the emotional and cultural identity of the people. Water, land and language are necessary for citizens.

Kamal Haasan has said twice- I will not apologize
Kamal Haasan has denied his forgiveness twice for his comment on Kannada language. He said during the promotion of his film ‘Thug Life’ in Chennai on 30 May, ‘India is a democratic country. I believe in law and justice. I have been threatened before, but if I am wrong then I will apologize, if not wrong then I will not apologize.

Earlier, he said in Kerala on May 28- what I said was with love and this is what many historians have taught me. We are a family and languages are part of it. This is not an answer from my side, but an explanation. Love will not apologize.
