This year Bhadrapada, Shukla Shashthi starts from 05:56 pm on August 28,
Finished- 29 August at 08:21 pm.
According to the almanac, any fast is kept on the basis of Udaya Tithi. Since Shashthi Tithi will be present at sunrise on August 29, this fast will be observed on this day.
Why celebrate this festival: Mothers fast for Lalita Shashthi for the happiness, good fortune and longevity of their children. On this day Goddess Lalita, Skandamata (who is the mother of Lord Kartikeya) and Lord Shiva are worshiped. By observing this fast, all the sufferings of the child are removed and their life is filled with happiness and peace.
Worship method
1. Resolve to fast: Wake up early in the morning on the day of fast and take a bath and resolve the fast. This fast is kept without eating grains, that is, food is forbidden in this fast.
2. Preparation for Pooja: Install the idol or picture of Goddess Lalita, Skandmata and Lord Shiva at the place of worship. Clean the place of worship and lay red or yellow clothes on a post.
3. Worship: Offer red flowers, roli, kumkum, akshat, fruits and sweets to the goddess. Light a lamp of ghee.
4. Special enjoyment: On this day Pudi, Pua and other dishes are offered. Keep in mind that grains or vegetables grown from cow’s milk products and plowing are not consumed during this fast.
5. Fasting Story: It is considered very auspicious to listen or recite the fast story of Lalita Shashthi during worship.
6. Paran: The fast is passed on the next day after worshiping.
