Martyr Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari
Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari of the Indian Army has made his highest sacrifice in Sikkim. Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari of Sikkim Scouts was leading a root opening petrol during an operational task in Northern Sikkim on 22 May, during which a fire bridges slipped from a log bridge to a fireplace’s leg and he started flowing. Seeing this, 23 -year -old Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari jumped into the river without thinking anything and brought the partner out of death, but he could not save his life.
Stephen Subba’s leg slipped from the bridge
Shashank Tiwari, the lieutenant of the Sikkim Scouts of the Indian Army, received a commission on 14 December 2024 less than six months ago. In Sikkim, a Tactical operating base (TOB) was leading a route opening petrol, it is an essential post that was being prepared for future deployment. At around 11:00 pm, a member of the patrol party Agnivir fellow Stephen Subba slipped the leg while crossing a log bridge (wooden bridge) and was swept away in a sharp mountain stream.
Shashank Tiwari jumped into the sharp stream without cares
Seeing Subba flowing, Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, while showing his extraordinary understanding, selfless leadership and unwavering commitment to his team, jumped into a naturally dangerous water to save him without any hesitation. Another jawan hero call, Katail also immediately followed him to help him. Together, they managed to save Agniveer drowning. However, Lieutenant Tiwari unfortunately swept away in a strong current.
Lieutenant’s body found in the morning
Lieutenant’s patrol team tried to find him a lot during that time but he could not escape alive, his body was recovered at 800 meters down at 11:30 am. The army said that the heroic action of Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari is a great example of the basic values of the Indian Army- selfless service, honesty, as an example, the leadership and unwavering bond between officials and soldiers, which is beyond the rank and is nurtured in both war and peace.
Joining was not even 6 months
Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari was only 23 years old and was a resident of Majhwan Gaddopur in Ayodhya, today his body is reaching his house late at night. The officer is survived by his parents and a sister. In 2019, he was selected in NDA. According to the information received, Shashank Tiwari was smart in studies since childhood, he had cracked NDA in his first attamination. He was joined by the army on 14 December 2024.
