Surat. After the festivals of Diwali and Chhath, it has again become difficult to get tickets in trains going from Surat and Udhna stations towards UP, Bihar and other North Indian states. The main reason for this is the beginning of the wedding season in these states. There is huge crowd and long waiting time in trains.
Many other trains including Tapti Ganga Express, Udhna-Danapur Express, and Udhna-Varanasi Express have waiting till December 15. With the beginning of the wedding season in North India, the problem regarding booking in trains to and from Surat and Udhna has increased. In these states, lakhs of people had reached Surat and surrounding cities during Diwali and Chhath and now the process of returning to their homes has started.
According to railway sources, the main reason for the waiting list in trains is the marriages taking place in North India. People are going to participate in these. Every year the marriage season starts in November and December and this time too there is a huge shortage of seats in trains.
Meanwhile, passengers are facing difficulties due to not getting confirmed booking of tickets. Railway officials say that plans are being made to increase additional train services to bring the situation under control. Passengers going to UP-Bihar from Surat and Udhna may have to face the problem of not getting confirmed tickets in trains in the coming days.
