Siliguri, 18 October (HS). Police seized a lorry full of cattle being taken for cattle smuggling in Siliguri. 25 cattle were recovered from the lorry which were being smuggled from Bihar to Bangladesh. Police arrested the lorry driver. The name of the arrested accused is Mohammad Khabeen Hussain. He is a resident of North Dinajpur.
According to police sources, in the early hours of Friday, Vidhannagar outpost police tried to stop a lorry during a search at Murliganj in Phansidewa. During this, the driver tried to drive away the lorry at high speed. Later the police chased the lorry and stopped it. When the police team searched the lorry, 25 cattle were recovered from it. After which the driver was arrested. The driver told during interrogation that he was taking cattle from Bihar to Bangladesh. Police has started taking further action.
