Importance of Mahalakshmi fast: Mahalakshmi Vrat starts from Ashtami date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month and runs till the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. According to religious beliefs, by observing this fast, mother Lakshmi resides in the house and poverty is removed.
This fast is considered special fruitful for people struggling with economic problems. Doing this brings success in business, job and work area and economic prosperity. Apart from this, this fast is good luck for married women and happiness, peace and love in married life. Following the rules of this fast purifies both mind and body.
Worship method of Mahalakshmi Vrat:
Mahalakshmi fast is worshiped for 16 days, but if no one is able to fast for 16 days, he can fast for three days or three days of the end.
1. Resolve to fast:
On the first day of the fast, on 30 or 31 August, get up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes.
Clean the place of worship of the house and lay red cloth at a post.
Pledge to fast with water and flowers in your hand.
2. Kalash Establishment and Pooja:
Put Ganga water, turmeric, betel nut, coin and akshat in a urn. Place mango leaves and coconut over the urn.
Now, install the idol or picture of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi at the outpost.
Offer the ingredients of red cloth, red flower lotus or rose, vermilion, bindi, bangle and other sixteen makeup to Maa Lakshmi.
On this day, make a garland of 16 lumps thread especially and worship it.
– After worship, wear this thread women in the left hand and male in the right hand.
3. Rules and enjoyment of worship:
– This fast is not nirjala, but food is not taken in it. Vrati can do fruit.
– Perform aarti of Goddess Lakshmi in the morning and evening for 16 days and chant the mantra ‘Om Mahalakshmai Namah’.
– Offer pudding, fruits and sweets in worship.
– Read or listen to the fast story every day.
4. Fasting of fast:
– On the 16th day of the fast, which will fall on 14 September 2025 this time, fast is done.
On this day, a garland of 16 lumps thread is immersed.
– Take blessings by giving food and donation to a beautiful woman.
After observing this fast with true reverence and devotion, the grace of Mother Lakshmi is definitely received.
