2025 Mahalaxmi Vrat: Mahalakshmi fast is an important fast lasting 16 days, in which devotees perform special worship and rituals to get the grace of Mother Lakshmi. This fast is kept for wealth, prosperity and good fortune. This year, Mahalakshmi fast will start from 2025 31 August, Sunday till 14 September, Sunday. Some of the major functions performed during Mahalakshmi fast are as follows:
• 16 days fast: This fast lasts for 16 days, in which devotees fast with full devotion. Some people fast for the entire 16 days, while some people observe the first, eighth and last day.
• Kalash installation: On the first day of the fast, that is, on the Ashtami date of the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, devotees install Kalash at their place of worship. This urn is filled with water and rice, by placing mango leaves and betel nuts on it.
• Worship of Mahalakshmi: Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped every day during Mahalakshmi fast. Devotees light a lamp in front of the idol or picture of the Goddess, offer incense, incense sticks, flowers and indulgence (such as kheer or sweets).

• Mahalakshmi fast story text: Every day the story of Mahalakshmi Vrat is recited, which tells the importance and benefits of this fast.
• Arghya and enjoyment: After worship, Arghya (water) and enjoyment are offered to the goddess.
• Donation: Donating has special significance on the last day of the fast, or the day of Udapan. Devotees donate food, clothes and money to the poor and the needy according to their ability.
• Friday’s special importance: The Fridays falling during Mahalakshmi fast are considered to be of special importance, because this day is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Special puja and rituals are performed in these days.
