What is Modi government’s Make in India Initiative

Make in India is a major national initiative of the Government of India, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014. Its purpose was to make India the world’s leading manufacturing, investment and innovation hub.

Initially there were 25 major sector targets. Following this initiative, India ranked 63rd from 142nd of 2014 in the Ease of Doing Business Rankings of the World Bank. India has become the second largest mobile manufacturer in the world today in mobile manufacturing.

After 2020, India had to launch the PLI scheme under compulsion so that companies could be given economic incentives. This revealed the lack of the original structure of Make in India. However, special attention is being paid to Sector Specific Strategy, Auto, Electronics, Textiles through Make in India 2.0.

In May 2025, Rahul Gandhi made a statement on Operation Sindoor and Prime Minister Modi in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Rahul said that Trump got a call and Narendra ji immediately surrendered. He said, “History is a witness, this is the character of BJP-RSS. They always bow down. India broke Pakistan despite America’s threats in 1971. Congress’s Babbar Sher and Shernis fight against super power, never bow down.
