New Delhi, November 7 (IANS). On Thursday evening, on the third day of the great festival of faith, Chhath, in the national capital Delhi, fasting women offered Arghya to the setting sun. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s wife also offered Arghya to Lord Bhuvan Bhaskar. On this occasion, Manoj Tiwari congratulated the countrymen on Chhath.

Speaking to IANS at Chhath Ghat, the BJP MP said, “I congratulate all the countrymen on Chhath. My mother has observed Chhath for the last 25 years. Now my wife has observed Chhath fast this year. This festival is celebrated across the country and the world.” It is celebrated with great pomp and show.”

He also targeted Arvind Kejriwal and said, “It is only in Delhi that we are facing the brunt. The government here is busy in stopping Chhath. Some people are busy in making arrangements on the Yamuna river, but I recently filed a petition in the court. Don’t know who are these people who are looking at the festival of cleanliness, but the water of Yamuna is being polluted by putting chemicals in it. This government should have banned them, but it is busy banning Chhath.

Manoj Tiwari said, “Yamuna river is not polluted everywhere. Yamuna after Wazirabad is polluted. Chhath is being celebrated in Haryana adjacent to Wazirabad, but what is the point of stopping Chhath in Delhi? After seeing all this, I I am feeling a lot of pain. May Chhathi Maiya bless her devotees and I believe that Chhathi Maiya will end this pain.

Manoj Tiwari’s wife Surbhi said, “The festival of Chhath is very sacred. It is celebrated with the blessings of Chhath Maiya. We would have been very happy if Chhath was celebrated at Yamuna Ghat. But every Chhath fasting person like me in Delhi is in pain. Ghats are made in one’s own house or locality or by Chhath committees and they offer Arghya to the Sun. Next time, with the blessings of Chhath Maiya, Yamuna river will also become clean.

He further said, “The fast is certainly difficult, but now that I have observed the fast myself, I feel that Chhathi Maiya herself gets everything done. In the beginning, I was also nervous about this fast, but later everything became fine. Our festival will conclude with offering prayers to the rising sun on Friday morning.”
