Mansa Devi accident: CM Dhami expressed grief, helpline number released, announcement of compensation

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the stampede at Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. He said that in this hour of grief, the state government is fully standing with the afflicted families. The footpath of the stampede temple was at around 9 am on Sunday. So far, the death of 6 devotees has been confirmed in this accident, while 28 other devotees are injured. The CM expressed his condolences to the families of the devotees who lost their lives in this accident. The Chief Minister has announced a relief amount of two lakh rupees to the families of the deceased and fifty-fifty thousand rupees to the injured.

District Magistrate Haridwar has been instructed to provide immediate relief and assistance to all the victims and their families. Instructions have also been given for magisterial inquiry into the incident. The CM has instructed Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman to conduct a thorough review of the arrangement of crowd management, security, and travel routes to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.

Accelerated medical facility to the injured

Quick medical assistance has been provided to the devotees injured in the incident. Five seriously injured devotees have been immediately referred to AIIMS, Rishikesh. The remaining 23 injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital, Haridwar. Health department teams are providing all possible medical facilities to the injured. The Chief Minister is keeping an eye on the situation and he is constantly being made aware of the rescue and rescue operations.

On receiving the information of the incident, joint teams of district administration, SDRF, NDRF, local police, health department and other emergency services immediately reached the spot and the rescue operation was conducted at a fast pace. Acade Garhwal Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the injured are being given better treatment. Concrete steps will be taken to ensure that such incidents do not recur in future. The Chief Minister has given clear instructions that all major religious places of the state including Mansa Devi should make CCTV monitoring system, direction indicator boards, emergency withdrawal scheme on walking routes and local administrative coordination should be made more effective.

Do not pay attention to rumors- Secretary Disaster Management

Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman has appealed to the devotees not to pay attention to rumors and trust the information being issued by the administration. Describing the safety of the devotees as the highest priority, he said that the state government is taking all necessary steps and there will be no way in the relief work.
