Maratha reservation agitation-Jarange order to vacate Azad Maidan

The leader of the Maratha reservation movement and his supporters today got relief from vacating the Azad Maidan. The hearing in the case has been postponed till 1 pm on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the bench of Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) Mr. Chandrashekhar and Justice Aarti Sathe heard twice.

The bench had ordered Jarange and his supporters to vacate Azad Maidan by 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon. After this, a large number of police were reaching the ground.

After 3 pm, the second thing was heard in the case. The jawan’s lawyer sought time from the bench till 11 pm on Wednesday. Said that the movement continues in a peaceful manner. Law and order will not deteriorate, take responsibility for it.

Attorney General Birendra Saraf, appearing for the Maharashtra government, told the bench- the police have followed all the procedures. The protesters have been given a list of their mistakes. Jarange and their supporters should assure them to leave Mumbai, only then the situation will be affected.

He said that the crowd has increased during the Ganeshotsav. Maintaining law and order is a challenge for the police. On this, the bench reprimanded the government and said- you should have come to court on the second day, it should have been told that there is a crowd of more than 5 thousand people.

The bench had said- your protesters were dancing on the road

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday reprimanded the Maratha movement leader Manoj Jarange for continuing the fast unto death at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. The court ordered all the protesters to vacate Azad Maidan before 3 pm today.

The bench of Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) Mr. Chandrashekhar and Justice Aarti Sathe said, “If Azad Maidan did not vacate till 3 o’clock, the protesters will be fined hard, the court’s contempt proceedings and other action will be taken.”

ACJ said- You cannot force a High Court Justice to reach the court just because your protesters were dancing on the road. We also want to know from the state government what she was doing?

Jarange is on indefinite hunger strike demanding 10% reservation to the Maratha community in government jobs and education under the Backward Classes (OBC) category from August 29. Today is the 5th day of his fast unto death. Jarang has also stopped drinking water since Monday.
