The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift returns a mileage of 24.8 km/l with manual, 25.75 km/l with AMT and 32.85 km/kg with CNG.
The fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Swift went on sale in the domestic market just a few months ago and has been well received by the customers. It is currently the best selling hatchback in India. Among the major changes incorporated in the new Maruti Suzuki Swift was the introduction of the new 1.2 liter Z12E petrol engine.
The three-cylinder powertrain replaces the four-cylinder K-series engine and has long been speculated to receive a strong hybrid system in the future. It now only features passive start/stop technology as standard, but the advent of a larger battery pack and range extender system can take the claimed mileage to more than 35 kmpl.
A new test model of this compact hatchback has been spotted testing. In the global market, the Suzuki Swift offers two powertrain options, including a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre petrol-hybrid setup. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox. Additionally, the Swift is also available in both FWD and 4WD configurations.
The hybrid badge at the rear can be clearly seen in the model spotted testing in Bengaluru. The powertrain in the global Swift with mild-hybrid technology performs similarly to the India-spec version. We suspect that the prototype can evaluate the ADAS capabilities required for local driving conditions.
Maruti Suzuki will in fact offer the E Vitara with an ADAS suite of driver-assistance and safety systems. The much-awaited electric SUV is set to make its Indian debut at the 2025 India Mobility Global Expo to be held in New Delhi in January. It will be launched in the market by March 2025.
The five-seat mid-size SUV will enter a highly competitive segment, taking on rivals like the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Honda Elevate EV and the Citroen Basalt EV. It will also take on the recently unveiled Tata Curve EV, Mahindra XUV400, Mahindra’s BE series to be launched on November 26 and others.
