Massive fire breaks out in Tata Electronics factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu

Krishnagiri. A massive fire broke out at the mobile phone accessories unit of Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd (TEPL) factory at Uddanappalli near Nagamangalam in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

Police sources said that after receiving information about the fire around 5:45 am, more than 10 fire tenders of Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department from Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts were immediately rushed to the spot. Employees were deployed in night shift in the unit. He was taken out safely. However, four workers, who complained of suffocation due to black smoke, were admitted to a private hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.

At present there is no news of any casualty in this incident. Due to the massive fire, thick black smoke spread in and around the unit. Initial reports said the fire broke out in TEPL’s mobile panel painting unit.

Krishnagiri Superintendent of Police P. Thangadurai, who visited the spot, said more than 100 policemen have been deployed to assist in the fire extinguishing operation. The fire was brought under control after several hours of hard work.

Meanwhile, in a press release, TEPL said that an unfortunate incident of fire has occurred at our plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Our emergency protocols at the plant ensured that all our employees were safe. The cause of the fire is being investigated, and we will take necessary action to protect the interests of our employees and other stakeholders.
