Mexico City. The mayor of a small town in southern Mexico’s Oaxaca state has been stabbed to death due to an interpersonal conflict.
According to reports, this is the second mayor to be murdered in the country in less than 10 days. Earlier, Alejandro Arcos, the mayor of Chilpancingo, the capital of southern Guerrero state, was assassinated on October 6, just days after taking office.
The Oaxaca State Prosecutor’s Office said on Tuesday that Candelaria Loxicha city mayor Roman Ruiz has been stabbed to death due to an ‘interpersonal’ conflict. The population of this city is approximately 11,166.
According to the office, the mayor was admitted to the community clinic for treatment in critical condition. However, he died during treatment due to injuries sustained during the knife attack. According to initial investigation, this is an interpersonal incident.
State Governor Salomon Jara said in a post on social media platform X, “We are deeply saddened by this incident.” We express our deepest condolences to his family. The Prosecutor’s Office is already working on the case.
