Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen Skoda, Hundai’s interest in making electric vehicles in India, detailed guidelines issued
Electric vehicles news: Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy said on Monday that global vehicle manufacturers including Mercedes Benz, Skoda-Fuxwagen, Hundai (Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen Skoda, Hyundai) and Kia have shown interested in the manufacture of electric cars in India. These companies have expressed interest during a conversation between the government and the industry regarding ‘plans to promote the manufacturing of electric passenger cars in India’. Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Skoda, Hundai, Kia showed interest in vehicle manufacturing: Although the scheme was notified on 15 March last year, its guidelines were released on Monday. Officials said that the facility to apply under the scheme will start in 1-2 weeks and it remains to be seen which companies will actually move and apply? Kumaraswamy said here that Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Skoda, Hundai, Kia all these companies have already shown interest in vehicle manufacturing.
Applicants approved to encourage global manufacturers to encourage investment under the scheme will be allowed to import E-4 W with E-4 W with a minimum of US $ 35,000 CIF (cost, insurance and transportation) at a low customs duty of 15 per cent from the date of application approval.Also Read: When will electric cars be cheaper, prices will be equal to petrol vehicles, Nitin Gadkari’s big disclosure
Approved applicants will have to invest a minimum of Rs 4,150 crore as per the provisions of the scheme. The duration of receiving the application through notice inviting applications will be for 120 days (or more). Apart from this, the Ministry of Heavy Industries will have the right to facilitate the application as per the requirement by March 15, 2026. (Language)
