Piyush Goyal said- India continues talks with America regarding tariff
Piyush Goyal told the Rajya Sabha- America issued an order on 2 April 2025 to increase the tariff on India. Under this, 10% baseline duty was implemented from April 5.
According to Goyal, a total of 26% tariff was announced on India with this 10% duty. After this, the country-particular (ie for India) additional fees were to be implemented from April 9, but on April 10, the US postponed it for 90 days, and then it was extended to 1 August 2025. He said that the government is talking to the US on this issue so that Indian exporters are not harmed.
