Modi reached Guyana, welcomed by President Irfan Ali

Georgetown/New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Georgetown, Guyana on Tuesday on a state visit where President Mohammed Irfan Ali welcomed him at the airport. The two leaders greeted each other with a warm embrace. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in the last 56 years.

Upon his arrival at the airport late Tuesday night Guyana time, Modi was given a ceremonial welcome and a guard of honour. During the visit, he will hold discussions with Modi and Ali, meet other senior leaders of Guyana and address the Guyanese Parliament and a gathering of NRIs.

Modi will also attend the second CARICOM-India Summit in Georgetown, Guyana and hold meetings with leaders of CARICOM member states to further enhance India’s long-standing friendship with the region.
