Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami has been included in the East Zone team for Duleep Trophy 2025-26. Ishaan Kishan, who has scored two half -centuries in two innings for Nottinghamshire at the current County Championship, has been made the captain of the 15 -member team.
Fast bowlers Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar and Ryan Parag are part of the team, while on the tour of England, India’s Test team was made the vice-captain.
14 -year -old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored the fastest century of Youth ODI for the Indian Under -19TM on England tour last month, has been kept in six standby players.
34 -year -old Shami is away from cricket since IPL 2025, where he took six wickets in nine matches playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He played the last first class match in the Ranji Trophy for Bengal in November 2024. Sudeep Chatterjee, who has scored the most runs for Bengal in the last Ranji Trophy season in the East Zone team, has not got a place, but Sudeep Kumar Gharami has been kept in standby.

The Duleep Trophy with six teams is returning to the zonal format, which will include teams selected by the selectors of the zone and the tournament will start the domestic season of 2025-26. In the last season, there were four teams in the tournament – India A, B, C and D – which were selected by the National Selections. The East Zone will play the first match of the domestic season against the North Zone at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru from 28 August.
