Kolkata, 19 October (Hindustan Reporter). The City of Joy is going to witness another iconic Kolkata derby at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) this evening when Mohun Bagan super giants take on their arch-rivals East Bengal in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season. But will come down to maintain dominance.

Both clubs have faced early challenges in this ISL season. East Bengal FC are the only team to have lost all four of their matches, while the Mariners have shown attacking prowess but have struggled defensively, conceding seven goals in the four matches played so far.

Mohun Bagan will take to the field after a 3-0 win over Mohammedan SC. Spanish head coach Jose Molina will aim to get consecutive wins and clean sheets for the first time this season.

Mohun Bagan have scored in each of their 12 home ISL matches in 2024, with at least two goals in 11 of those matches. He has scored 29 goals at the Salt Lake Stadium in 2024.

Meanwhile, East Bengal FC are winless in their last eight ISL matches against Mariners and have conceded at least two goals in every match. The red and gold brigade are still looking for their first win of the season.

Mohun Bagan super giants’ Spanish head coach Jose Molina has expressed confidence after their recent win against Mohammedan Sporting, assuring that it is all about what happens in the match.

“We rested for a few days,” he said. Now, our players are fully prepared. I believe we are in a good position after the last match. But now, there is an important match and our focus is on that.”

East Bengal FC strategist Bino George praised the management for building a strong team this season.

“We will stick to our plans,” he said in the pre-match press conference. The management has made a good team this time. Now as coaches it is our job to plan. We will give our 100%.”
