Country’s largest Industrialist and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani has once again shown generosity. He has given an unconditional grant of Rs 151 crore to the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. Let us tell you that Mukesh Ambani graduated from this in the 1970s. Mukesh Ambani spent more than three hours in the ECT during the ceremony organized for the publication of Professor MM Sharma’s biography ‘Divine Scientist’- which was then called the University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT). Ambani clarified that this donation of ₹ 151 crore is ‘Guru Dakshina’ for him, which he has given as per the instructions of Professor Sharma.

Sharma used to dream like Dhirubhai Ambani

Recalling the days of studies, Ambani said how the first lecture given by Professor Sharma in UDCT inspired him and how Professor Sharma later played his role as a architect of India’s economic reforms. Professor Sharma explained to the policy makers that the only way of India’s development is to free the Indian industry from license-raj. By doing this, Indian companies will be able to manufacture massively. This will reduce India’s dependence on imports and we will be able to face global competition. Ambani further said, “Like my father Dhirubhai Ambani, Prof. Sharma also dreamed of taking the Indian industry to global leadership.” He added, “These two courageous visionary people believed that science and technology would open the doors of prosperity by combining with private entrepreneurship.”

Professor Sharma was ‘Guru of Rashtra Guru-India’

Giving the credit for the upliftment of the Indian chemical industry, Ambani called him ‘Guru of Rashtra Guru – India’ in his speech. Talking about Guru Dakshina, Ambani donated an unconditional of Rs 151 crore to ICT as per the instructions of Professor Sharma. Referring to the grant, Ambani said, “When they tell us something, we just listen. We don’t think. He said to me,” Mukesh, you have to do something big for ICT and I am very happy to announce this for Professor Sharma. “
