Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, has set a contact policy for the top leadership in the company. Indeed, during an interview with McKinsey & Co, when he was asked what you think about risk management. On this, Mukesh Ambani said that the principle is whether you can survive even in the worst situation. You first think what the worst situation can be, and then you have to escape from it. This has been one of my principles. About 30 or 40 years ago, I said that another principle I should adopt personally is to see in the eyes of any of your employees. In Reliance, we tell our leadership that it is important to make an eye to the eye because then you express your honesty.

We will do what is right

He further said that I think we can put all our principles in front of our top-100 leaders, these are our principles. We will do what is right. Whatever we do, we should be able to see each other that we are not ashamed. In this way we have created our institutional culture. And this institutional culture is our best insurance against any kind of risk.

Dhirubhai Ambani’s thing that became learned

Mukesh Ambani said in the interview that my father used to say that if you want to start a business to become a billionaire, then you are fools; You will never reach there. If you want to start a business affecting a billion people, you have a good chance to succeed, and as a result you can earn a significant amount. Ambani said that it is in Reliance’s DNA. We will find out where to achieve what we want to do – as long as we have the right talent and we have the right goal. There is a saying here that if you focus on obstacles, you will never be able to reach your goal; But if you focus on your goal, you will overcome all obstacles.

The company took a big risk as Jio

Responding to a question related to risk in business, he said that we have always taken big risks, because for us, the scale is important. The biggest risk we have taken so far was live. At that time, it was our own money that we were investing, and I was a majority shareholder. Our worst situation was that it could not be financially effective because some analysts felt that India was not ready for the most advanced digital technology. But I told my board that in the worst situation, we will not be able to earn much returns. This is fine because it is our own money. But then, as Reliance, it would be the best philanthropy in India so far as we would have made India digital, and thus changed India completely.
