Murshidabad violence, Supreme Court asked-should the President order
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to issue any order on the petition to implement President’s rule in Bengal and deploy paramilitary force. The petitioner had appealed that the court should decide on this after the Murshidabad violence against the Waqf law.
The bench of Justice BR Gawai and Justice AG Christ did not give any order on this. The bench asked the petitioner- Do you want us to send orders to the President to implement it? We are facing allegations of interference in the jurisdiction of others. Justice Gawai is going to be CJI next month.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said on Saturday that the court is going out of its boundaries. At the same time, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that the courts cannot order the President. The judges are acting like a super parliament.
On the other hand, a second petition related to the Murshidabad violence was heard in the bench of Justice Suryakant. In this, the lawyer spoke of migration of people due to Murshidabad violence. The Supreme Court questioned the lawyer what is the source of your information, did you investigate yourself. The lawyer replied to this- media reports.
High Court suggestion- Violence to violence affected area
The Calcutta High Court reserved the order on 17 April for continuing the deployment of central forces in the violence affected Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The bench leader of Justice Samen Sen and Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary is hearing the petition of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
17 companies of central forces are deployed in sensitive areas of the district. Suvendu official has appealed that the state government should be instructed to take steps to return to their homes.
Earlier, the High Court had suggested that a panel with one member should visit the violence affected areas from the National Human Rights Commission, West Bengal State Human Rights Commission and State Legal Services Authority.
NCW team reached Murshidabad
National Commission for Women (NCW) Vijaya Rahatkar on Sunday visited the riot -affected areas of Murshidabad district from the West Bengal government. The Commission is preparing a report, which will soon be submitted to the Center. Its copies will be sent to the top officials of the state.
