N. Chandrasekaran said- ‘This incident is one of the most dark days of the history of Tata Group’
Tata Sons and Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran wrote a very emotional letter to his colleagues on Friday. In this letter, he wrote that this is a very difficult time. What happened yesterday is beyond comprehension and we are in shock and mourning. Losing a person we know is a tragedy, but so many deaths together are beyond comprehension. It is one of the black days of the history of the Tata group. Words cannot be consoled right now, but my condolences are with the families and loved ones of the people killed and injured in the accident. We are here for them.
We are indebted to all
He further wrote that I want to say, like you, we also want to understand what happened. We don’t know now, but we will understand. You know that in the last 24 hours, the investigation teams from India, Britain and America have reached Ahmedabad to investigate the accident. They have our full support, and we will be completely transparent about the conclusions. We are indebted to families and loved ones, our pilots and crews and you. The Tata group takes its responsibility towards society seriously, and it also includes talking openly about what happened yesterday.
Air India aircraft crashed immediately after take off in Ahmedabad on 12 June.
I want to be patient
Chandrasekaran wrote- Now, our human instinct is to seek clarification for the disaster. There are many speculation around us. Some of them can be correct, some may also be wrong. I want to urge to be patient. We saw the lives of a large number of people yesterday. Why this regular flight turned into disaster, it is something that trained investigators will help us understand when their work is completed. Once we confirm the facts, we will be transparent in our communication about this tragedy.
Will not back down from your responsibilities
The chairman of the Tata Sons wrote that when we acquired Air India, as a reliable group by so many people, ensuring safety of its passengers was our first and biggest priority. No compromise was made on this. This does not matter to those who suffer disastrous losses tomorrow. At this time, we can only assure them of their full support.
We will work together as a group and find ways to help them. We have created this group on the basis of trust and care. This is a difficult moment, but we will not back down from our responsibilities, not by doing it right. We will tolerate this loss. We will not forget it.
