Naira Energy filed a case against Microsoft, know what is the whole matter
Microsoft corporation Has stopped serving Russia’s petroleum company Rosneft -backed Naira Energy following restrictions imposed by the European Union. On this, the Indian Refinery Naira Energy has sued Microsoft in the Delhi High Court. “Naira Energy has initiated legal proceedings against Microsoft after a sudden and unilateral suspension of important services,” the company said in a statement. Microsoft Naira is preventing Energy’s access to its data, proprietary equipment and products, while these are fully acquired under the license paid. ”
Rosneft is 49.13 percent stake in Naira Energy Limited
The European Union imposed ban on Naira under new measures against Russia over war with Ukraine earlier this month. Naira Energy Limited has a 49.13 percent stake in Rosneft, earlier known as Essar Oil Limited. Naira operates an oil refinery with a capacity of two crore tonnes annually and more than 6750 petrol pumps at the Wadinar in Gujarat. Naira said, “Microsoft’s decision is based on unilateral interpretation of the European Union (EU) sanctions and sets a dangerous example for corporate encroachment.” There are also serious concerns about its effects on India’s energy ecosystem.
The company raised demand for interim relief
Naira Energy said that it has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking interim relief and re -starting services to protect their rights and to ensure frequent access to the necessary digital infra. The company further said, “The purpose of these steps is to prevent any possible disruption in Naira’s ability to fulfill their obligations towards Indian consumers and stakeholders.”
No compulsion under American or Indian law
The company further stated that although these restrictions are especially from the European Union, American company Microsoft has decided to withdraw services from Naira Energy, while there is no obligation under American or Indian law to do so. The company said that this action has been taken unilaterally under the guise of compliance without any prior notice. The statement said, “Despite these external challenges before Nayara Energy, we are committed to meet India’s energy demands uninterruptedly.”
