Names will be added to the voter list under the voter list revision program.
Mau. The District Magistrate made a special appeal to the people of the district to add the names of women in the voter list due to low gender ratio in Mau district, and gave necessary instructions to the officials associated with the program.*
District Election Officer/District Officer Shri Praveen Mishra said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, at present the work of revision of electoral rolls containing assembly photos on the basis of qualifying date 1 January 2025 is in progress from 29 October 2024. As per the schedule fixed by the Commission, the date of special campaign has been fixed on 23rd and 24th November. On this date, all booth level officers will be available at their respective polling places from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Keeping in view the date of the special campaign, the District Magistrate has issued a video message and appealed to all the residents of the district that all the eligible residents of the district must register their names in the voter list on these special dates. Especially due to low gender ratio in the electoral roll in the district, he has made a special appeal to such women voters who are completing 18 years of age on January 1, 2025. Apart from this, he has also appealed to the women voters who have completed 18 years of age and their names are not included in the voter list, to register their names in the voter list. Along with this, an appeal has also been made to the aware voters of the district to motivate them to include the names of all the missing eligible people in their house and surrounding areas in the voter list.
It is known that according to the census, the sex ratio of the district is 973 per thousand males, but in the voter list, the gender ratio of the district is only 892. Assembly wise gender ratio is highest at 907 in Madhuban, 873 in Ghosi, 896 in Mohammadabad Gohna and 896 in Mau assembly constituency, which is very less as compared to the standard gender ratio of 979 for the district of the Honorable Election Commission. In view of this, the District Magistrate, along with appealing to the residents of the district, also directed all the officers associated with the voter list revision program to include the names of women voters in the list.
The District Officer said that on the day of the special campaign, the booths will be inspected by the District Election Officer, Deputy District Election Officer, all the Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and supervisory officers. If any booth level officer is found absent during inspection, legal action will be taken against him under relevant sections. The District Magistrate has also instructed all the Block Development Officers to set up a control room in the block so that the work of the village level officers can be supervised. He has also instructed the women of self-help groups to visit every house during the dates of the special campaign and get the names of voters, especially women voters, added to the list.
