Nara Canal accident in Pakistan, six drowned after boat capsized, no one is known

Islamabad, 31 October (HIST). Six people drowned after a boat capsized in Nara canal of Khairpur district in Sindh province of Pakistan. There were a total of 11 people in this boat. As soon as the boat overturned, five somehow swam to the shore. The remaining six were swept away in the strong current. This is the longest canal of the country. It is also called Indus Canal. This information has been given in media reports.

All these people are said to be from Drabo Shar village. These people were going to attend a marriage ceremony in Jamal-ud-din village across the canal on Monday. The people washed away in the canal are Bakht Ali Shar, Baksh Ali Shar, Raj Ali Shar, Raja Khan Shar, Mango Shar and Khaliq Ali Shar.

Nearby people and divers searched for them till the dam, but failed in the operation. After this the police was informed. Acting Chief Minister of Sindh province (retired judge) Maqbool Bakar has directed the Irrigation Department to start rescue operations. Divers started searching for these people in the canal again on Tuesday morning. Khairpur police say that the chances of any of them being alive are slim. Now the Navy is also being contacted for help in finding the bodies.
