Shri narsingh jayanti katha: Every year Narsingh Jayanti fast is observed on the Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month. This festival is being celebrated on Sunday, May 11, 2025. On this day, Lord Shri Narsingh ripped the pillar and incarnated for the protection of the devotee Prahlada. Let’s know about the mythology of this fast …
According to the legend of Narsingh Avatar, a sage named Kashyapa and his wife Diti had 2 sons, one of whom was named ‘Hariyanaksha’ and the other was ‘Hiranyakashipu’. Hiranyaksha was killed by Lord Vishnu as a Varaha to protect the earth. When Hiranyaksha was killed, his brother Hiranyakashipu was very sad. He became a great opponent of God. He meditated hard in the spirit of becoming invincible. He got the fruit of penance as a boon of not dying from the deity, man or animal etc. After getting a boon, he became invincible.
The rule of Hiranyakashipu was very harsh. Dev-Danav was all in the worship of his feet. He used to give harsh punishments to those who worshiped God and he used them to worship them all. All Lok and Lokpal were nervous with his rule. Somewhere, after not getting any support, he started praying to God.
Pleased with the praise of the gods, Lord Narayana assured the slaughter of Hiranyakashipu. On the other hand, the atrocities of Daityaraja were increasing day by day. Even he started giving various kinds of troubles to his own son Prahlad because of taking the name of God. Prahlad used to leave sports since childhood and become a matter of meditation of God. He used to preach religion from time to time to Asura-Baikas. Hiranyakashipu was very angry after listening to the discipline to the Asura-Bars. He called Prahlad to the court. Prahlad stood in front of the demon Raj with great humility. Seeing him, Daityaraja scolded and said- ‘Fool! You have become very excited. On whose strength have you worked against my command? ‘ On this, Prahlad said- ‘Father! From Brahma to the straws, all the big and small, variable and science have been controlled by God. It is God who creates, protect and destroy this world through his powers. Leave this feeling of your mind and make your mind generous to everyone.
Hearing Prahlada, Hiranyakashipu’s body began to tremble due to anger. He said to Prahlada- ‘Ray retarded! If your God is everywhere, then why don’t you see this pillar? ‘ Saying this, he jumped from the throne with anger with anger. He hit the pillar with a loud punch.
At the same time Narsingh Lord appeared from within that pillar. Half of his body was of Leo and half as humans. At the moment, Narasimha Bhagwan took Hiranyakashipu on his thighs and tore his chest with his nails and ended his life and protected his beloved devotee Prahlada.
