Washington: A big news related to NASA has come out. NASA has appointed astronaut Anil Menon for the first space station mission. Astronaut Anil Menon will depart on his first mission to the International Space Station, in which he will serve as a member of the flight engineer and the crew of the Expedition 75.

Will spend 8 months in parikrama laboratory

NASA said that Menon will be launched in June 2026 riding on Roskosmos Soyuz MS-29 spacecraft. He will also be accompanied by Rososmos astronaut Pyotra Dabarov and Anna Kikina. After launching from Baikonur Codemrome in Kazakhstan, all three will spend about eight months in the parikrama laboratory.

Who is Anil Menon? Learn about them

Menon, originally from Minianpolis, is not just an astronaut, he is also an emergency physician, mechanical engineer and a colonel in the United States Space Force. He has a bachelor’s degree in neurobiology from Harvard University, Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Medical Degree from Stanford University. Menon completed his residency at Emergency Medical and Aerospace Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Stanford and Galveston.

In his spare time, Menon Memorial practices emergency therapy at the Texas Medical Center in Harman and teaches residents at the University of Texas program. Prior to his visit with NASA, he played an important role as SpaceX’s first flight surgeon, assisted the launch of the first crew dragon spacecraft during NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission and helped establish his medical organization to support human space flight. He has also worked as a crew flight surgeon for SpaceX missions and several NASA campaigns at the space station.
