Naveen-ul-Haq comfort, Abdullah Ahmedzai for the first time; Afghanistan declared team for T20 Tri-Series
Afghanistan Squad T20 TRI-Series: Before the Asia Cup 2025, Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced a 17-member team for the T20 Tri-Series to be held in the UAE. This team has only made a change, where fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been rested and his first replace Abdullah Ahmedzai.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced its 17-member team for the T20 Tri-series to be held in the UAE before the Asia Cup 2025 on Wednesday (August 27). The series will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium from 29 August to 7 September, in which Afghanistan will face Pakistan and UAE. Afghanistan will play two matches against both teams and the final will be held on 7 September.
16 players in the declared team are already part of the Asia Cup squad. Only one change has been made, in which fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been rested and 22-year-old fast bowler Abdullah Ahmedzai has been called in the national team for the first time. Ahmedzai, who belongs to Nangarhar, has performed brilliantly in domestic leagues. Recently he has taken 14 wickets in 10 T20 matches, with an average of 15.64 and an affordable economy of 6.84.
Star leg spinner Rashid Khan will once again command the team. All -rounders like Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib and Karim Jannat will strengthen the middle order, while the salute pair like Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Jadaran will start the innings. Bowling attacks are rich in spin options, including Rashid Khan, besides Noor Ahmed, Mujib-ur-Rehman and Allah Ghaznafar. At the same time, Fazalhak Farooqui will play an important role in fast bowling.
