Today is the 14th day of the monsoon session of Parliament. Even today, due to the protest of the opposition, the entire day’s proceedings could not be taken in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were postponed till 11 am yesterday after the opposition’s uproar over the demand for discussion on Bihar SIR.

Meanwhile, a meeting of leaders was held in the House of National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh as well as Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju attended it. After the meeting, Rijiju said that in the meeting, the NDA passed the preface and entrusted the right to decide the name of the candidate for the Vice Presidential election to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the House leader JP Nadda in the Rajya Sabha.

Here, it could not be decided to send the National Sports Governance Bill 2025 and National Anti -Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in the Lok Sabha today. The opposition has demanded to send both the bills to JPC.

In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had written a letter to Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh demanding a discussion on Bihar SIR. However, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the Lok Sabha rule is that the cases pending in the court cannot be discussed in the House.

Apart from this, there will be a meeting and dinner of India block leaders in Delhi. During this time, the opposition’s Vice Presidential candidate, SIR in Bihar, America’s tariff on India is expected to discuss issues.

There have been 2 days discussion so far in 13 days
Parliamentary proceedings have been near by the monsoon session which started on 21 July. Opposition parties protested every day on the verification case of voters in Bihar. During the 13 days, on 28 and 29 July, the entire day’s proceedings took place in the House. Both days, Pahalgam terror attacks and Operation Sindoor were discussed in both houses.

The monsoon session will run 32 days, there will be 18 meetings

The monsoon session of Parliament will run from 21 July to 21 August i.e. 32 days. During this time there will be 18 meetings, more than 15 bills will be introduced. Parliament will not be proceeded with the Independence Day celebrations on 13-14 August.

The central government will introduce 8 new bills in the monsoon session, while 7 pending bills will be discussed. These include bills like Manipur GST Amendment Bill 2025, Income Tax Bill, National Sports Governance Bill.

On the first day, the report of the Parliamentary Committee on the new income tax bill will be presented in the Lok Sabha. The committee has given 285 suggestions. The 622 -page bill will replace the 6 decade -old Income Tax Act 1961.
