Central government Has made necessary and significant improvements by changing the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme (PMFBY). Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan gave this information. Announcing these reforms, Shivraj Singh Chauhan referred to the loss to farmers due to the previous Jagan Reddy government of Andhra Pradesh. The government is to protect the farmers from the damage caused by the lapse of the state governments due to these changes. Let us tell you that Hanuman Beniwal, MP from Nagaur in Rajasthan, had questioned the government about the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme in Parliament.

Farmers of Andhra Pradesh suffered heavy losses

Answering the question of Hanuman Beniwal, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the Modi government converted the previous National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) into PMFBY, in which the claims of damage to the farmers were ordered to settle within 21 days. He then highlighted a serious issue that emerged in Andhra Pradesh. The Agriculture Minister said, “Some states had announced that they would bear the expenses of Kisan Insurance premium themselves. However, in Andhra Pradesh, the then Jagan government failed to contribute to its state’s share in the premium for 3 consecutive years. Due to which the farmers of Andhra Pradesh suffered heavy losses as they did not get the benefit of their proper crop insurance. “

States will have to pay 12 percent interest

Emphasizing the commitment of the central government towards farmers, Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Shivraj Singh said that due to this “bad experience”, the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme had to be given basic amendments. Under the amended Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, the central government will now give its share for crop insurance, whether the state government fulfills its premium contribution or not. The minister said, “If a state government does not give its share, then an interest of 12% will be imposed on it and that amount will be deposited directly in the accounts of the farmers. The objective of the government’s move is to protect the farmers from the delay and political inactivity by the officials at the state level, so that they can get the benefit of crop insurance on time.
