Kathmandu: There was a clash between two parties during the protest demanding improvement in education and demand for increment in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Sunday. At least seven teachers and some policemen were injured in the clash. An eyewitness said that the police have shown a tough stand in Kathmandu.
Police lathi -charged
According to eyewitnesses, the teachers wanted to enter the banned area of the new Baneshwar region. Teachers were trying to break the security cordon, after which the police lathi-charged thousands of agitating teachers to disperse the teachers and showered water. Eyewitness said that some policemen were also injured in the clashes.
What is the demand of teachers
Thousands of school teachers from different parts of the country have been demonstrating in Kathmandu for about a month to improve school education and increase salary and allowances. Their main demand is to pass the School Education Bill by Parliament. Last week, Education, Science and Technology Minister Bidya Bhattarai was forced to resign due to failure to resolve the concerns of agitating teachers. Now Raghuji Panta has been given the charge of the ministry. (Language)
